President, Maconite National Scholarship Organization, Inc.
A Macon, Mississippi native and graduate of Macon High School, Dorothy Stewart now resides in St. Louis, Missouri. As president, Dorothy has successfully directed the efforts of the Maconite National Organization, also headquartered in St. Louis, for approximately ten years.
Dorothy is the loving wife of Emmett Stewart, also a native of Macon, Mississippi, and the adoring mother of one daughter and one son.
With a professional career that spans some 41 years, including eight years of service with St. Louis’ Jewish Hospital as a dietitian where she quickly rose to the rank of Dietician Supervisor, Dorothy also served 18 plus years as a lead supervisor with Bussman, and 14.5 Years at Alco Control, a division of Emerson Assembly as an assembly technician. After a varied and successful career, she decided to start the second phase of her life and retired from the workforce in 1997.
Dorothy now enjoys her “leisure years” by engaging in volunteer community service, which includes providing “in home care” to senior citizens. An avid traveler, she has recently traveled to such international places as the Bahamas and Germany. Since traveling did not seem to be enough, these leisure years are also filled with bowling, reading and sewing. She is a dedicated member of the Union Memorial Methodist Church in St. Louis, where she has served faithfully for a number of years.
Dorothy’s vision for the organization is to significantly increase financial assistance to deserving high school students. Towards that end, she has assembled and appointed a team of third generation Maconites to execute the National Scholarship Website and News Letter in a strategic effort to increase awareness and communication among chapters, reach out nationally to fellow Maconites as well as secure corporate sponsorship, while simultaneously fostering value and brand equity, resulting in increased revenue and collaboration.
